Amridil Kasbah | ⴰⵎⵔⵉⴷⵉⵍ
The Kasbah on the 50 DH
In contrast to many kasbahs, Amridil remains well-preserved and is still managed by the grandchildren of its original builder, MHAMED NACIRI EL HASKOURI, who was the son of Ahmed Bennacer, the founder of Zaouia Naciria in Tamgroute. Constructed in the 17th century as an Islamic school, known in Morocco as a Zaouia, to teach the Quran, Amridil stands as a must-see landmark in Ouarzazate today. Guided tours are available, offering insights into the kasbah’s history and showcasing various traditional tools used in daily life.
For those traveling to the Merzouga desert, a quick stopover to visit the kasbah is recommended. If planning to spend the day exploring the Skoura oasis, there are numerous places to visit, including opportunities for walking or horseback riding.
Located 38 km from Ouarzazate on national route N10, follow the sign for Amridil Kasbah, turn left, and drive for 1 km until you reach a dry riverbed; the kasbah is on the other side. Grand Taxis are available for 15 DH/set, or you can opt for a bus traveling to Tinghir for 10 DH.
Where to Sleep
Skoura offers many guesthouses and kasbahs within the oasis. Additionally, there is a guesthouse within Amridil itself.
